Another day another beach. We thought it was about time we mixed things up & went somewhere other than Bâoli beach. Adventurous, I know!! After a bit of an eeny, meeny, miny, mo decision we settled on La Plage du Festival.
The routine was very much the same, we’d all make our way down in dribs and drabs then spend the morning relaxing and sunbathing before padding over to the restaurant for lunch.
I went for a roasted aubergine dish which was so delicious, a rare vegetarian (actually vegan) dish, these can be a little few and far between down on the French Riviera. The French aren’t so veggie/vegan friendly (sweeping comment) so sometimes it can be a bit of a struggle. It’s never been too much of a problem for me though because although I don’t eat a massive amount of fish at home, I can’t resist it on holiday. It’s always so fresh and delicious, so it would be rude not to!
Others went for giant Niçoise salads, seared tuna
and good ol’ fish ‘n’ chips.
The food was really, really good!!
We didn’t have long at the beach that day as in the evening there was a firework display so all the beaches were closing early to set up and prepare.
So after a quick dip we went in search of a bar with a view.
We haven’t really discovered many roof top bars in Cannes but there is one on top of the Marriott hotel so we thought we’d check it out.
It’s not fancy and they could definitely do a lot more with it because they have amazing views looking over the whole Croisette.
Nevertheless we ordered a couple of cocktails and enjoyed the view.
Mum’s looks interesting/radioactive!
Before we knew it was time to head back and get ready of dinner. There was already excitement in the air about that evenings events!
