When the sun is shining Manchester transforms into a beautiful, tropical oasis. Okay, so not quite. It does mean that we spend most of the day commenting on how glorious the weather is..then a small fraction of the day complaining that it’s too hot! Typical Brits eh.

Determined to make the most of the weather we set out to find a sun trap where we could sit back, relax and sip on something refreshing.

We ended up at Common

After umming and ahhing about whether we should or shouldn’t have a cocktail on a Tuesday afternoon we decided hey, it’s only sunny once (we are in Manchester after all).

Haze and I had Hugo’s and Mum had a g&t. It would have been rude not to.

Northern Quarter can be an ermm interesting place to people watch. Quirky ‘n’ all that.

As we were sat soaking up the sun food arrived, which was amazing. Even better than I remember.

Haze went for Bo Ssam Lettuce Wraps

Chargrilled marinated pork, kimchi, gochujang and lettuce. Take her word that it was delicious.

Mum went for a falafel wrap.

I went for a Deep House Salad (yes they have called a salad that) with falafel.

I cannot rave, geddit, about the falafel enough. Mum and I both said it was the best falafel we’ve ever had..and we’ve eaten a lot of falafel..we’re basically experts.

If you want good food in the Northern Quarter, head to Common.

We went for a wander around the Northern Quarter before saying goodbye to Mum and walking home.

By the time we’d made it 3/4 of the way home we were parched so made a detour and had a quick pit stop at The Met for another Hugo – these ones are the best. (We were slightly underwhelmed by the ones at Common).

Good weather doesn’t stick around for long so you’ve got to enjoy it whilst you can!
