Dinner in the hills

We’ve been reunited!_DSC0465We’ve only been apart for a grand total of about a week & a half but I couldn’t have been more excited to catch up with this little one. _DSC0441So we popped open a bottle of bubbly & started celebrating._DSC0447_DSC0451_DSC0452I cannot tell you how good it is to be back in our third home – Spain is our second – and being with our extended family makes it 10 times better._DSC0459 (1)_DSC0461After chatting, a few nibbles and catching up on what the Coulthard’s been up to – they’ve scouted some pretty fun things for us to do whilst we were here, we were whisked away to Mougins. A beautiful little town up in the hills behind Cannes. _DSC0487_DSC0488Once you’re up there the views are spectacular. Its a Ville Gastronomique which means there are cobbled streets filled with back to back beautiful restaurants.

Whilst the boys parked the cars & had to make their own way up the hill the girls got dropped off at the top and took in the views_DSC0481_DSC0482Unknown to us there was a festival going on. A white evening like the one in St Tropez, so everyone was dressed in all white (obviously!). Even though we didn’t get the memo we just so happened to fit in pretty well. _DSC0484Ironically at a French celebration, they had a fish ‘n’ chip van…who’d have thought!_DSC0480_DSC0494_DSC0495We went to a beautiful restaurant called La Gaudinade. We went a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. The food is so good. It’s traditional French cuisine which is absoultely delicious!
_DSC0503I started with a seafood ramekin, snails were on the menu but I couldn’t bring myself to do it, they’re not my thing._DSC0507Followed by red mullet in a rich tomato and black olive sauce – amazing._DSC0508_DSC0509For dessert I probably should have gone for the Crème de la Crème of French desserts, Crème brûlée, being in France ‘n’ all. But I went for a Pot au Chocolat, which was a decision I did not regret. It was uh-mazing!!! So so chocolatey.  Umm  delicious._DSC0514

Mougins is definitely one of my favourite places to eat in the South of France, it’s just so charming & rustic whilst still being at the height of modern cuisine…however I think you’re going to hear me saying that about a lot of places around here!!
